There are Sunday brunches.

There are live music shows.

And then there are those occasions when somebody puts Kim Archer, Will Walker, brunch and 2-for-1 mimosas in the same building before noon and simply waits to see what happens.

That is essentially the plan this Sunday.

On Sunday, September 27, Kim Archer and I are getting back together for Talent Brunch at JardĂ­n CafĂ© Lounge in Puerto Vallarta’s Zona RomĂĄntica, and frankly, I think we both need it.

Actually, I KNOW I need it.

Because it has been a week.

IT HAS BEEN A VERY WILL WALKER KIND OF WEEK

I opened Burrito X Puerto Vallarta last week.

I am managing three businesses.

My phone apparently believes I am a 24-hour customer-service department.

I have answered approximately 47,000 messages.

Puerto Vallarta is still hot enough to make walking three blocks feel like an Olympic event.

And every few hours I have to remind myself that water is apparently necessary for sustaining human life.

Somewhere between all of that, I also remembered:

Oh, right. I sing. 😂

And even better, Kim Archer and I realized that we haven’t had an opportunity to work together in quite a while.

Not because anything happened.

Not because we got divorced.

Not because there was a dramatic VH1 Behind the Music episode nobody told you about.

We’ve simply both been BUSY.

Apparently having reasonable schedules is beneath us.

So this Sunday, we are fixing that.

TALENT BRUNCH COMES TO JARDÍN CAFÉ LOUNGE

Talent Brunch brings Kim Archer and Will Walker together for a Sunday morning of live music, brunch, mimosas and whatever else happens once microphones are placed in front of us.

If you’ve seen us together before, you already understand the assignment.

Kim is going to sing.

I’m going to sing.

Kim is going to do Kim things.

I’m going to do Will things.

There will almost certainly be at least one look exchanged across the room that communicates an entire paragraph without either of us saying a word.

And somewhere between the looks, the laughter and the foolishness, we are actually going to make some damn good music.

That part is important. 😂

LIVE SOUL, FUNK AND MUSIC IN ZONA ROMÁNTICA

Puerto Vallarta has no shortage of entertainment, but there is something different about live music during brunch.

Nobody is rushing.

Nobody has to wait until 9 PM.

You can come in, sit down, order something delicious, have a mimosa, listen to live vocals and spend a Sunday enjoying the city.

Apparently Jardín Café Lounge has decided to encourage all of this behavior with 2-for-1 mimosas.

Because someone there understands Sunday.

I respect that.

Brunch begins at 11:00 AM, giving you plenty of time to settle in, get food, secure your beverage situation and pretend that you’re going to behave.

Then at 11:45 AM, we start singing.

After that, I make no promises.

There is also something happening in Puerto Vallarta right now that locals can feel.

Low season is coming to an end.

Businesses are gearing back up.

Performers are getting busier.

Restaurants and venues are moving into another season.

And slowly but surely, Puerto Vallarta is turning the volume back up.

This brunch feels like a perfect little transition into that.

Before the calendars get ridiculous.

Before reservations become harder.

Before every sidewalk in Zona RomĂĄntica suddenly contains 300 people.

Come sit down.

Have a mimosa.

KIM ARCHER + WILL WALKER: BACK TOGETHER

One of the reasons I’m genuinely excited about Sunday is simple:

I like working with Kim.

We have different personalities and different approaches, but musically, it works.

There is chemistry.

There is respect.

There is spontaneity.

And neither one of us is particularly interested in standing onstage pretending to be somebody we’re not.

That means you may get beautiful music.

You may get jokes.

You may get stories.

You may get a completely unnecessary conversation in the middle of a song.

Honestly, that’s half the fun.

Live music should feel LIVE.

FREE HUGS. QUESTIONABLE ADVICE. GOOD MUSIC. MIMOSAS.

That is essentially my official promise for Sunday.

I will be singing.

I will probably be talking too much.

There will be hugs.

And if you make prolonged eye contact with me, there is a very real possibility that I will offer you completely unsolicited life advice.

Whether you follow that advice is between you, your therapist and your God.
